Course series

Welcome County of

Los Angeles

leaders!

Thank you for participating in the Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative cohort learning series on Targeted Universalism.
Developed in partnership with Seed Collaborative, this series introduces the Targeted Universalism framework, created by the Othering & Belonging Institute. The framework sets universal goals while using targeted strategies to address the different barriers communities face—helping departments move beyond one-size-fits-all approaches toward more effective and equitable outcomes.
The cohort training series includes:
  1. an introductory session
  2. four self-paced Targeted Universalism videos on OBI University
  3. optional Coaching Dialogues (Learning Labs) between modules
  4. Community of Practice sessions to apply learning.
  5. Additionally, there will be optional individual coaching for Department Heads and designated leaders.
As part of this series, County staff will complete the four-part, self-paced training hosted here on OBI University, building a shared understanding of the framework and how to apply it within their roles. Progress will be tracked to support accountability and alignment with Countywide priorities, including ARDI Management Appraisal and Performance Plan (MAPP) goals.

To begin, please register or sign in with your departmental or professional e-mail address using the button below. Once enrolled, you will be able to track your progress and access all course materials. Please complete this portion of the learning series by June 5, as it is required to participate in the Community of Practice sessions.
